Abisagboola Oluseun John, known as Bankulli is a recurring face when African music is concerned. A multifaceted talent, he plays many roles in the engine that is Afrobeats. As musician, promoter, historian, songwriter, AnR and even within the sphere of artiste management.
He was vital to the rise, and reign of Mo’Hits records, and afterwards has gone on to work with a plethora of acts: K1 De Ultimate, JJC & 419 Squad, Weird MC, Tiwa Savage, Maleek Berry,
Davido, Teni Entertainer, Runtown, Wande Coal.
Bankulli’s influence does not cease within afrobeats. He received vocal contributions on Kanye West and Jay Z’s Grammy nominated album, Watch the Throne. And was featured on three songs off Beyonce’s The Gift album, which received 3 Grammy nominations.
Bankulli has spent the last four years travelling the world, working on the Chronicles of Afrobeats documentary. A 7-part series that details the Afrobeats genre from birth, to nurture, and eventual explosion.
